Police Data Pipelines

Ohio's statewide police feed to LexisNexis went quiet, and London, Ontario now sends sexual assault records to the Virtual Crime Center

By Shawn Segal·October 26, 2026·4 min read

Ohio's statewide pipeline into LexisNexis's Community Crime Map stopped on September 15. In our September 24 snapshot of the map's public agency roster, 254 Ohio feeds had uploaded within the previous ten days. In the October 26 snapshot, none had. All 474 Ohio agencies that report through OIBRS, the state's incident-based reporting system, carry a last-upload date of September 15 or earlier, and their 1.7 million records sit where they were six weeks ago. Outside Ohio the map barely moved: live feeds went from 351 to 356. Whether the state paused its export or LexisNexis stopped ingesting it, the public map does not say. The records already sent stay searchable either way.

The roster itself did not grow, and the month's real news is in what a few agencies decided to send. London Police Service in Ontario, which began feeding the map in July, removed Sexual Assault from its withheld list, so sexual assault incidents from London now go to LexisNexis. Firestone, Colorado and Frisco, Texas each stopped withholding death investigations. LexisNexis flags all three feeds as also landing in the Accurint Virtual Crime Center (AVCC), the law enforcement side of the product, where contributed records are pooled and searched by every subscribing agency. ICE is one of those subscribers: in August it posted a roughly $6.7 million sole-source contract that names the Virtual Crime Center directly. In other words, a sexual assault report taken by a Canadian police service may be in a database ICE pays to search. Sauk Rapids, Minnesota is the month's one new AVCC contributor. Its 121,075 records were already on the public map; between the two snapshots the AVCC flag switched on.

Sauk Rapids still withholds six categories, including sexual assault, homicide and attempted homicide. Medina County keeps uploading to the public map; only the AVCC flag came off. The Hamilton County entry is a second, dormant listing for the sheriff's office; its main feed was already an AVCC contributor and uploaded on October 25.

The 31 Ohio feeds still live are agencies that run their own interface to LexisNexis rather than reporting through the state system. If the OIBRS pipeline stays silent, 254 feeds roll from recent to lapsed in the December snapshot.

Arlington County is the one meaningful drop, which usually means a re-upload that pruned rows. Six agencies pushed their earliest record date back, among them Ramsey County, Minnesota to 1967 and Oak Ridge, Tennessee to 1974, so the map now holds older history for those departments than it did in September.

A feed is live when its last upload falls within ten days of the pull. The full roster, with every agency's dates, record count and withheld categories, is in the data explorer.
