Shawn Segal

Shawn is the editor of FinePrint. He spent two decades working on security, surveillance, and privacy for nonprofits and large multinational companies. Before that he ran investigations across big tech, law enforcement, and banking, with a focus on homeland security, cybercrime, and money laundering cases. He has worked with many of the tools covered by FinePrint, including Accurint, Palantir, and Flock.

He brings thousands of government records to the public through MuckRock, documenting surveillance infrastructure and accountability. His journalism career peaked at 16, when his articles were picked up by CNN, Washington Post, Engadget, and TechCrunch.
